Hi Andrew

I could have written a book!! but this is as condensed as I can make it.

'Life for me before I became a recovering alcoholic was difficult to say the least. Childhood was extremely painful and I was left being so used to the negatives of life that it became my familiar, my place of 'comfort'.  I didn't know how to love or like anyone let alone myself but alcohol changed all that.  It enabled me to feel how I wanted to feel about myself and others but took away what little dignity or self respect I had.  Relationships were a sham and I neglected my children filling them with fear, disgust and waiting for me to die. Eventually I hit 'Rock Bottom'  and agreed to go into Whiteoaks Rehab Centre and was appointed Andrew Fitzpatrick as my counsellor.  In Andrew I found someone who would be honest with me, straight talking but empathetic and caring at the same time.  I learned about my disease, it's physical and emotional affects on me, my family and others. Taking full responsibility for my addiction was and is pivotal in my recovery.  He showed me a different way of thinking and behaving, and being honest.  I visited painful places in my past and was able to talk to him about things I never thought I would speak to anyone about.  It wasn't an easy time going through these sessions with Andrew, but he is extremely astute and knowledgeable in what he does.  He has the ability to see behind the facade and I found him incredibly easy to talk to.  The road to recovery is only one day at a time but I totally believe that my counselling sessions with Andrew have greatly contributed to the wonderful life I have on a daily basis with my family who are also in recovery with me.

He is an amazing counsellor and I will always be greatful to him for all the help that he gave me and my family.  Now I have a life and it it worth living one day at a time'
